8-day tour “Oases: Bahariya and Siwa, trekking through Darb Siwa”

Day 1: Cairo – Bahariya Oasis

Early in the morning, our representative will meet you at your hotel in Cairo to embark on an exciting journey through  the Bahariya Oasis. If you are staying in a hotel in another city in Egypt, such as Luxor or on the Red Sea coast, we can arrange a transfer to Cairo or directly to the oasis. Bahariya Oasis is the largest and most important oasis in the Western Desert. Visiting the town  of Bawiti, you will see how the main crops (guava, mangoes, dates, olives) are grown, as well as some of the historical sights of the city. The Greco-Roman necropolis, also known as the Valley of the Golden Mummies, contains a huge number of mummies. In the museum, surprise some mummies as well as sarcophagi painted with gold paint. Next, you will visit the remains of Ain Tibnya, the temple, clock of the reign of Alexander the Great, who is said to have passed through this oasis; the tomb of Banentiou, with its well-preserved coloured hieroglyphs and paintings; a temple in the Ain Muftella area  with four chapels, the walls of which are about two meters high and built about 2600 years ago. Lunch awaits you in one of the local restaurants. The rest of the day is completely at your disposal and you can relax at the hotel or go for a walk. Dinner at the hotel.

2nd day: Black and White Deserts

Early in the morning, you will take a jeep to the Black Desert, where you will see numerous rocks and hills covered with black basalt. Then you will go to the White Desert National Park. This desert was once the bottom of the ocean, but after the water receded, there were cross formations that formed bizarre landscapes of amazing beauty. Enjoy this unique landscape, the famous Crystal Mountain and the picturesque Agabat Valley, because you won’t find anything like it anywhere else. Lunch will be served as a small picnic. In the evening you will arrive at the first campsite, where you will have dinner and spend the night in a tent or under the open starry sky.

Day 3 to Day 6: Trekking tour to Siwa Oasis via Darb Siwa

The famous ancient caravan route  of Darb Siwa connects the two oases of Bahariya and Siwa. You will get a real pleasure from the huge desert landscape, in addition to stones and sand, on the way you will meet other natural riches of the area: lakes, dunes and rocks – witnesses of ancient populations! You will pass by the beautiful Sitra, where there is a small salt lake among sand dunes and surrounded by steep cliffs. And in El Nuwaymisa You’ll discover small lakes, small dunes, and burial grounds of people who traveled with caravans and died along the way. Here you will have a short stop for lunch (picnic). Next, visit Bahrain – once it was a settlement, and now there are dozens of tombs in the rocks. The last stop before the Siwa Oasis will be El Arag, where  life was in full swing from the Pharaohs’ clock to the Christian period, and now there are numerous tombs with ancient paintings. You’ll see a beautiful sunset in the desert before you arrive at Siwa Oasiswhere you will have dinner and spend the night at the hotel. Of course, you won’t have to walk all the way, part of it will be hiking, partly by jeep, which will allow you to contemplate the fantastic desert landscape in more comfortable conditions.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included. Nights camping in the desert, the last night at a hotel in Siwa Oasis.

Day 7: Siwa Oasis

After an early breakfast at the hotel, we will pick you up to visit an amazingly beautiful place – a vast green area with lakes and springs in the middle of the desert. You will visit Shali, the old labyrinth of Siwa, the tombs on the Mountain of the Dead, where you will find beautiful paintings as well as well-preserved mummies. Then swim in the Cleopatra Hot Springs, visit  the Temple of Amun and its famous oracle, from whom Alexander the Great himself once received an answer. After lunch, take a jeep ride through the Great Sand Sea that surrounds Siwa.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are included. Overnight at the hotel in Siwa Oasis.

Day 8: Siwa Oasis – Cairo

After breakfast at the hotel, you will head back to your hotel in Cairo. This concludes our excursion program.
