Tour Details:
Day 1:
We will meet you at your hotel in Marsa Alam; you will recognize our driver by the sign with your name in his hands. During your trip to Luxor, your path will take you along the Nile River through some of the cities and towns of Upper Egypt, which will give you an idea of the Egyptian landscape and the way of life of the people living here. There will definitely be some stops, to capture some landscapes on camera.
First of all, you will visit the West Bank, where you will make a short stop on the way to take a look at the 3400-year-old Colossi of Memnon, giant statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III.
Your next stop will be in the Valley of the Kings. This is the place where the ancient Egyptians buried their kings and nobles for 500 years. The mummies of some famous persons of the time, as well as pharaohs, were found here. Take the opportunity to descend into one of the tombs of the Egyptian rulers, and you will discover well-preserved colorful paintings and hieroglyphs on the walls. A little further is an analogue of the Valley of the Kings – the Valley of the Queens, ancient burials of queens, princesses, as well as princes who passed away early.
Get ready for another attraction – the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, who was one of the most famous rulers of Ancient Egypt. The female pharaoh proved her ability to successfully rule the empire and finally created for herself a temple of extraordinary architecture, with columns, a hypostyle hall and many statues, paintings and bas-reliefs.
The façade is decorated with huge statues of Ramses in the guise of the ancient Egyptian god Osiris, well-preserved pylons and walls, as well as more than 7000m2 of wall reliefs, which are not only pleasing to the eye, but also tell us about the history of Egypt. For example, the victory of Ramses III over his enemies, the “People of the Sea”, who threatened Egypt at the time.
After this extensive educational program, you will still have enough free time, which we can devote to a sightseeing tour of modern Luxor, go shopping or just sit in a café, enjoying the subtle oriental atmosphere. If you wish, you can visit the light and sound show at the Karnak Temple. An interesting story, accompanied by music and light effects, will take you back a thousand years, to the great era of Ancient Egypt.
2nd day:
We can offer you to go for a hot air balloon ride in the morning. It will start early in the morning, and you will enjoy a beautiful sunrise, passing sights, fields and desert. This is an unforgettable and unique chance at a great price! Don’t miss out!
After breakfast at the hotel, your sightseeing day will begin with a visit to the Temple of Karnak, probably one of the most unusual temples. You probably won’t find a more interesting place in all of Egypt than Karnak. It is the largest temple complex ever built by man and represents the achievements of ancient builders for many generations.
The Karnak Temple is a complex of temples that actually consists of three main temples, smaller inner temples, and several outer temples, located about 3 kilometers north of Luxor on 100 hectares (247 acres) of land. After thousands of years, it is still in beautiful condition and, if you apply a minimum of imagination, you will find yourself in the past of this amazing place. You’ll have plenty of time to explore the gate, where you will learn how the pylon was built, walk along the avenue of sphinxes (with the body of a lion and the head of a ram), discover the hypostyle hall with its more or less preserved columns, admire hieroglyphs and paintings, see the Sacred Lake and various chapels, temples and statues. And if you want, find the Sacred Scarab, which is not far from the lake, walk around it three times in a clockwise direction and, according to legend, your wish will definitely come true…!
After visiting the Temple of Karnak, you will have lunch at one of the local restaurants in Luxor. In the afternoon you will visit the Luxor Temple. It is a place that has preserved not only the ruins of the pharaohs, but also the imprints left by Alexander the Great, the Romans and the ancient Christians, who changed the overall appearance of the place to their taste and according to their needs. In the courtyard of the temple there is a Muslim mosque, still in force.
Then you’ll have plenty of free time. At your discretion, you can take a walk along the promenade or for an additional fee purchase a felucca ride, and look at Luxor and its surroundings from the other side.
In the evening, you will head back to your hotel, Marsa Alam.
