Tour Details:
We will meet you at your cruise in the port of Sokhna; You will recognize our driver by the sign with your name in his hands.
First of all, you will visit the ancient capital of Memphis with its ruins, huge statues of Pharaoh Ramses II and the Alabaster Sphinx. And then you will visit Saqqara, the ancient cemetery of Memphis, with its monumental tombs of different shapes and in huge numbers (flat, covered, rectangular). One of the most famous is undoubtedly the Step Pyramid of Djoser, a monument that is more than 4600 years old. You will visit the tomb itself, of King Djoser, which was built by his vizier and one of the greatest sages Imhotep, after whom the museum (Imhotep Museum) was named, where you will also definitely visit.
We will then take you to Dahshur, the royal necropolis, where there are numerous pyramids and tombs. The most impressive of these are those built by Pharaoh Snefru. Sneferu wanted to create a concept for the construction of pyramids, which today we call “proper” pyramids. We will show you the Bent Pyramid (so named for its bizarre shape), which the architect himself considered unsuccessful and therefore proceeded to his next masterpiece, the Pink Pyramid (the name comes from the color of the facing stone, which turns pink in the rays of the setting sun), which turned out to be a true masterpiece with a smooth surface. It is not only beautiful and well-preserved to this day, but to this day it carries many secrets, since it has not yet been determined to whom this tomb belongs. The Pink Pyramid is considered to be one of the largest pyramids, However, it is inferior to the pyramids of Cheops and Chephren (by the way, the pyramids of the pharaoh’s son and grandson Snefer), one of the most famous pyramids in Giza.
The next pyramid you’ll see will be the Black Pyramid, which is unfortunately very badly damaged, as the low location allowed water to seep into the walls and myriad corridors. These structural problems led to instability and the walls cracked. The spectacle of the pyramid itself is impressive (if a bit creepy), but it’s worth seeing.
In the evening we will take you back to your cruise, to the port of Sokhna.
