Petra on the plane

An exciting trip to Petra (Jordan) can be made directly from Hurghada or Sharm El Sheikh by plane. The Nabataean city, located 262 km south of Amman, is Jordan’s most famous landmark. The endless surface of the sand painted in red and orange, the majestic mountains – as if eternity is frozen here and nothing can shake the tranquility of this perfectly beautiful place.Arriving in Petra, you will have an excursion to the ancient city, hidden in the very center of the rock, the path to which lies through a narrow gorge called Siq, a little more than a kilometer long. But it is worth walking this way to see the delightful sight of the first monument that has been perfectly preserved to this day – the façade of El Khazna (Treasury). The sight that will open up to you will thrill even the most sophisticated traveler. But Petra is still a lot of buildings, facades, crypts, temples and a theater for 3000 seats, built in the 1st century B.C., cut into the rocks by the ancient Nabataean people. This city was discovered by Europeans only in 1812, which is quite recent by the standards of archaeologists. Like Indiana Jones (Petra served as a set for a Hollywood movie, by the way), you will feel the spirit of discovery, and, who knows, maybe one of the amazing mysteries of the ancient city will be revealed by you?!
